Who says you need a plane ticket to get a taste of Italy?
Provisions Italiana, the sister restaurant to Vancouver favourites Hydra Estiatorio and Alouette Bistro, is bringing a slice of the Italian countryside to the North Shore.
Inspired by the simple, seasonal flavours of Italy, Provisions serves up meals meant to be enjoyed around a table with loved ones.
Everything on the menu is crafted with respect for ingredients, and it’s all about creating the kind of dining experience that makes an evening feel special — even if it’s just a regular weeknight.
Inside, the space is just as inviting as the food.
Nestled in the boutique Seaside Hotel in Lower Lonsdale’s lively Shipyards District, Provisions blends rustic charm with contemporary design.
It features an open kitchen that keeps the energy buzzing, while a warm fireplace adds cozy vibes and racks of wines add to the European ambience.
Of course, the star of the show is the Roman-style pizza al taglio. Baked in large rectangular trays and cut into perfect squares, every slice delivers a playful contrast: a light, airy texture and a slightly chewy, satisfyingly crisp base.
You can also expect dishes like Grilled Squash with pomegranate and hazelnut pistou, and Brussels Sprouts with walnut and chili vinaigrette.
And when it comes to pasta, highlights include the Orecchiette with beef cheek bolognese and whipped ricotta and the classic Gemelli cacio e pepe.
Provisions Italiana honours time-tested Italian traditions while creating a space that’s unmistakably North Shore. So gather your friends, grab a shareable pizza, pour a glass of wine, and let your taste buds take a mini-vacation to Italy!
