North America’s ‘most immersive horror experience’ returns to one Canadian city this year

Immersive experiences are all the rage these days. From Monet to Van Gogh, it feels like we’ve seen it all, until now. This spooky season you can immerse yourself in a truly horrifying and one-of-a-kind experience that is unlike any haunted house you’ve ever visited. Montreal’s Malefycia is an experience that you won’t soon forget.

Started in 2016, Malefyica is made for horror fans by horror fans. They claim to be North America’s most immersive horror experience and the reviews certainly back that up. Attendees have described Malefycia as “sick” and “disturbing” while also commenting on the actor’s dedication to providing a truly horrifying experience for visitors. Not to mention they have been widely covered by outlets like Narcity, PassionMTL, and more.

The adult-only experience you get at Malefycia isn’t typical. Gone are the days of you being chased with chainsaw-wielding actors and tripped up by jump scares, it’s now time for FX corpses so real that you’ll be questioning whether or not you just stumbled upon a crime scene. With actors eating body parts out of bloody containers and sets so well crafted, you’ll have a hard time knowing where to look, it’s a truly anxiety-inducing experience that will probably have you asking yourself just why you love horror so much.

Not only will you be scared silly but these events only happen in limited edition runs for just days at a time. So it really is more like seeing a theatrical performance than walking around your run-of-the-mill haunted house. Especially with the uniqueness of each theme.

Some of the past years’ themes have included a bloody medical clinic inspired by horror movies, a look at the terrors of man complete with sordid experiments and torture, and even Disney and the forbidden accounts of the Brothers Grimm. Just imagine what this fall’s event has in store. Right now, details remain slim on this year’s event, but a recent post on Malefycia’s Facebook has us thinking they’re going big with Montreal’s Olympic Stadium as the venue of choice.

Curiocity has reached out to Malefycia and they have confirmed that there indeed will be a 2021 event, and are in the midst of hammering out final details.

So be sure to keep up with event happenings here. And if you plan on attending when details are released keep in mind that you must be over 18 and also that you can bring groups. Because honestly who would be able to attend this alone? Definitely not us.

With that enjoy and don’t scare yourself too silly.
