Here’s when Nobu Toronto opens its first restaurant in Canada

It’s official! Canada’s first Nobu restaurant will be ready to welcome guests to its Toronto location this August. The luxurious dining destination has shared its grand opening date and here’s what to know.

After years of anticipation, the first Canadian Nobu location, at 25 Mercer St will open on August 6th.

Nobu is one of the most renowned hospitality brands in the world, founded by Chef Nobu Matsuhis, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper back in 1994.

“Guests can expect Nobu’s world-famous dishes such as Black Cod Miso, Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeno, and Rock Shrimp Tempura with signature cocktails like the Lychee Martini and Oni Negroni, including new local nods honouring Toronto’s multicultural food scene by Executive Chef, Alex Tzatzos,” shared Nobu Hospitality earlier this month.

The two-level dining establishment spans 10,000 square feet, starting on the ground level where guests will find the bar and lounge. It is a dimly lit, intimate space that is illuminated by the stunning backlit bar.

Up the stairs, to the main dining room, guests will find a stunning 20-seat sake bar area. There is also a white terrace that replicates the look and feel of “urban Japanese gardens.”

Make your way to the end of the hall and you’ll find the open space dining area.

It is described as a “breathtaking blonde elm Japanese 140-seat courtyard dining room” with a private tasting room decorated in dark cherry wood.

The open kitchen concept has a sushi bar where up to 11 guests can sit and enjoy Nobu’s world-famous sushi dishes.

There’s also a Private dining room on the second level that holds 20 people and features a “cascading chandelier.”

Eager to enjoy its delicacies? The public can sign up for early reservation access and exclusive updates via Nobu Toronto’s mailing list here. There is, however, a soft launch throughout this long weekend, according to Nobu representatives.

As for Nobu Toronto’s hotel and residences, they’re set to open sometime in spring 2025.
