New Year's Eve in Calgary will be a huge celebration with fireworks

Calgary, New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and it’s going to be enchanting!
With 2024 nearing its end, we’re about to get a brand-new start and that’s something worth celebrating — especially with your loved ones.
Ready to ring in 2025? The city will be hosting several exciting events including an explosive finale you won’t want to miss.
What’s happening on New Year’s Eve in Calgary?
This year, like so many before it, those who want to bid 2024 goodbye will have no shortage of ways to do so.
It all kicks off at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 in Lot 59 near Prince’s Island Park!
Food Trucks and Family Fun
Bundle up and hit the inner city. Featuring firepits and some of Calgary’s favourite food trucks, you and yours will be off to a great start this New Year’s Eve.
Grab a delicious bite, take part in family-friendly activities, and play games like inflatable curling. It’s going to be an exciting way to kick the evening off.

Live Entertainment
Is your stomach full? Take a walk over to Prince’s Island Park and watch as stilt walkers perform and delight Calgarians for free!

Prince’s Island Lagoon
Want to let loose? Check out the Prince’s Island Park Lagoon where Calgary will host a huge skating party—complete with a DJ!
According to the city, this music will continue well into the night, so bring your skates, your friends, your family, and your moves.

Dragon Parade
This year, Calgarians can also enjoy a dazzling incense dragon parade at the Chinese Cultural Centre!
The beautiful tradition will feature lights, colour, and incredible performances, so don’t miss it!

The main event!
Once you’ve eaten, watched, learned, and listened, look up and countdown!
At midnight, the city will put on an exciting fireworks show (set to music on CJSW 90.9 FM) at Prince’s Island Park.
Can’t make it in time? No worries!
For those who can’t get downtown, this will be live-streamed on their website and will include a blessing from Indigenous Elder Clarence Wolfleg, as well as a few words from Mayor Jyoti Gondek.

Please note that there will be several road closures including one on Memorial Dr. N.W. (eastbound and westbound) from 10th St N.W. and 4th St N.E, to keep patrons safe!
This particular road will be closed from 7 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2024, to 2 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025.
