Attention, shoppers! The largest Asian supermarket chain in Canada is plotting another expansion, and they’ve set their sights on our city. The new T&T Supermarket in Toronto will be right in the heart of downtown.

The 31,000-square-foot store will be located just steps from Yonge and Dundas Square, the Eaton Centre, and Toronto Metropolitan University.

For those who are familiar with the area, the new supermarket will occupy the World’s Biggest Bookstore storefront, in the Panda Condos development.

The recently-opened location at College and Spadina has been a huge success for the chain, which has led them to expanding their footprint in the downtown core.

Given the location of this new store, the new T&T Supermarket will serve both local residents and students with convenient offerings to take to campus.

That includes things like ready-to-eat meals, and “late-night study snacks.”

“University students, with their busy schedules and often on their own for the first time, may not have the time or the knowhow to cook for themselves,” said Tina Lee, the CEO of T&T Supermarkets, in a press release.

“In addition to ready-to-eat meals, fresh fruits and vegetables, and, of course, late-night study snacks, we’re happy to offer students in the area some familiar flavours from home.”

This will also be the second store to feature a “street food concept,” after the Fairview Mall location.

“In addition to the usual offerings, it will provide a selection of easy and convenient foods such as Chinese-style crepes, Taiwanese-style stuffed rice rolls and popcorn chicken,” says the press release.

The new store won’t be opening until the spring of 2025, but at least we have this exciting new location to look forward to!
