New Toronto restaurants & bars to try this July

July is here and we’re starting the month off right with delicious new eats, drinks, and experiences to enjoy. Toronto is now home to several new restaurants and bars and they’re ready to serve you right up with their best menu items.

Whether you’re looking on the more authentic side or looking for your new go-to spot for light bites and drinks, we’ve got a list for you. These new restaurants can’t be missed!

From recently opened to opening soon, here are a few new restaurants and bars to try in Toronto, this July:

Pigeon Café & Bar

Self-named for having the “world’s worst coffee”, this wonderful little cafe offers delicious brunch and dinner specials. Pigeon Cafe & Bar has several locations in Montreal and just recently opened its first location in Toronto. We recommend you book your reservation a few weeks in advance, especially for brunch – it gets busy.

When: Monday to Thursday & Sunday from 8 AM to 11 PM, Friday and Saturday from 8 AM to 2 AM

Chill Thai Bar

Taking over where Bar Sybanne once helmed, Chill Thai Bar offers a fusion menu of Thai, Western, and Tapas-style. If you’re looking for a laid-back environment where you can enjoy delicious eats and refreshing drinks, you know where to go.

When: Monday to Thursday from 5 PM to 10 PM, Friday to Sunday from 11:30 AM to 11 PM

Bar Bowie

Bar Bowie is a new late-night spot that has opened up on the Ossington strip. They claimed they’re “not a ‘speakeasy'” but they’re definitely hidden from plain sight. This is a good option if you’re looking for a new bar to enjoy.

When: Every day from 6 PM to 2 AM

Daphne

INK Entertainment’s newest restaurant, Daphne, is a modern American-style restaurant and garden terrace, featuring a menu with a contemporary twist. Expect to enjoy some seasonal American classics, small bites, handcrafted cocktails, and an extensive wine list.

When: Monday to Thursday between 11:30 AM to 10 PM, Fridays from 11:30 AM to 11 PM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 3 PM to 10 PM.

Mezcalero

A one-of-a-kind Tequila and Mezcal bar has opened in the annex. It offers a delicious tapas menu that pairs great with its wide selection of tequila, mezcal, and cocktails.

When: July 2023

Kissa

A new cocktail bar and lounge experience is coming to Toronto’s King Street West from the team behind Soluna. Japanese-inspired lounge Kissa, offers a new concept to the city, with two floors, one of which will have an exclusive members-only room.

Chef Michael Parubocki from Momofuku and Kasa Moto is the Director of Culinary alongside Head Chef Dylan Sampson. They have developed a special Japanese-inspired Izakaya-style menu.

And of course, don’t forget about the cocktails. Kissa’s Mixology Director, Blake Canning from Casa Madera, has come up with 17 specialty cocktails.

AFURI ramen + dumpling

The restaurant chain prides itself in its “no MSG” policy and only uses the finest, freshest, and highest-quality ingredients. Their noodles are made in-house through a two to three-hour process using wheat flour sourced from Japan.

They serve dishes like Yuzu Shio Ramen and Yuzu Tsuyu Tsukemen. Along with their ramen creations, AFURI offers made-to-order dumplings like Buta Gyozas. AFURI also offers small shareable plates like Watermelon Salad, Tori Karaage, and more.

When: Grand opening on July 2nd and 3rd, 2023

Bonus: Nutbar pop-up

Superfood cafe brand nutbar has opened a pop-up cafe within Ossington’s permission.co. The pop-up will be available all summer long and you can get your hands on superfood smoothies, iced tonics, acai bowls, iced supercoffee, and iced supermatchas.

When: Monday to Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM
