Fable Diner & Bar
Two worlds collide at Fable’s most ambitious location yet. Now open in downtown Vancouver, this concept combines the high-level farm-to-table cuisine of Fable Kitchen with the most accessible (but still delicious) opens at Fable Diner.
Where: 755 Richards Street
Hero’s Welcome
Opening at the tail end of 2021, Hero’s Welcome is a new pub taking over a historic space. Coming from the folks behind The American, the pub is breathing new life into the decades-old Mount Pleasant space, which was once an Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans community hub.
Where: 3917 Main Street
Nightshade
A little bit of vegan cuisine? You better believe it! Nightshade is a new spot in Yaletown, offering up a variety of Asian cuisines ranging from pakora to curry to sushi rolls. Plus, their cocktail list is just as enticing.
Where: 1079 Mainland Street
Smitty’s Oyster House
Coming all the way from Gibsons on Vancouver Island, Smitty’s has opened a Vancouver outpost! Naturally, you can expect a seafood-focused menu here, with special attention paid to their oyster dishes, which range from raw to broiled to pan-fried.
Where: 3124 Main Street
District Eleven
Those who can’t get enough of late-night eats need to check out this new spot. Specializing in Vietnamese and Japanese fusion, District Eleven offers a wide range of those perfect “after the concert” dishes like pho, tempura, and togarashi curly fries, which we love the sound of.
Where: 4063 Main Street
COFU Pressed Sushi
Easily the most niche concept on this list, but we love ’em for it. Not only is COFU offering an entirely vegan sushi menu (complete with pressed options), but their cocktail menu is zero-proof as well! One of those places where you can eat as much as you want and still feel (sorta) healthy afterward.
Where: 1833 Anderson Street

Say Hey
Thanks to a successful fundraising campaign, one of our favourite sandwich spots in the city is about to get even better! Set to open sometime this spring, Say Hey’s new head chef is bringing a wide range of new treats to try, including breakfast options and sides.
Where: 155 East Pender Street
Cantina 189
Chupito made some serious waves when it first opened, and it looks like that concept is expanding! The new concept (in the space next door) is keeping details close to its chest, but we guarantee you can expect delicious cocktails, a great food menu, and, an incredible space to enjoy it in.
Where: 324 West Hastings Street
When: Set to open March 9th
Novella
Coming from the folks behind the acclaimed Published on Main, Novella is a multi-concept cafe, grocery store, and maybe even a bistro! Like with Cantino 189, the full details haven’t been released yet, but we can expect an early 2022 opening.
Where: 2650 Main Street
When: Slated to open early 2022
Motorino Gelato
If you’re moving into the old space of Bella Gelateria, you gotta bring the noise. Luckily, this new idea from the Kitchen Table team will be offering both classic gelato as well as ‘granita’, a Sicilian frozen treat that is best paired with some brioche.
Where: 1001 West Cordova Street
When: Slated to open early 2022
GRETA Bar
Last but certainly not least, this Calgary import is bringing a brand new arcade bar format to the city! Say goodbye to boring old pub food and 20-year-old pool tables. Instead, say hello to delicious treats that will keep you more than satisfied in between Mario Kart competitions.
Where: 50 Cordova Street
When: Set to open this April
Those are our picks for the best new restaurants to try out in Vancouver soon! Use this list as an excuse to catch up with a pal or treat yourself for date night. That’s our plan, at least.
