Mysterious butter bandits are on the loose in Ontario after a massive Christmas heist

A group of brazen thieves is at large in Ontario but their stolen loot isn’t what you’d expect. The unidentified suspects took off with two transport trucks filled with butter — 20,000 kg of it to be exact, worth around $200,000.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Quinte West learned of the thefts on the morning of Boxing Day.

After an investigation, OPP found out that four suspects broke into the facility at around 11 p.m. on Christmas after getting dropped off by a black SUV.

Once inside, they managed to steal two transport trucks with the butter-filled trailers attached.

Both trucks were later found on December 27th, one in Etobicoke and the other in Toronto. Both trucks and the trailers were completely cleaned out, not a slab left behind.

Police released a photo of the suspect vehicle in an effort to track down the thieves responsible.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122. A cash reward may be provided in exchange for helpful tips.

Whether these individuals are running an underground dairy smuggling ring or simply had a lot of Christmas cookies to bake, their motive remains a mystery. We hope we get some answers once the suspects are apprehended.
