The current vehicle shortage is no news to anyone. And neither are the resulting inflated car prices and the long wait lists. While we can’t do anything about the prices and the wait, with Mr. Lube’s help, we’ve found 6 ways to steer clear of the buying process altogether for some time.

And one way of doing that is by prolonging the lifespan of your current vehicle. Technically, that is something you should ensure anyway for your own safety and convenience.

So, we put together a list of essentials of automotive maintenance that will keep your precious car running. And we have the folks at Mr. Lube to thank for helping us put it together.

Below are 6 ways to prolong your vehicle’s lifespan amid the ongoing vehicle shortage. The best thing is they can all be done with very little effort on your part. Take a look—

Get it serviced timely

Car owner or not, everyone knows that getting your engine oil and oil filter changed timely is crucial to keep your car running. By timely we mean every year or every 10,000km, whichever happens first. All you have to do is drive up to Mr. Lube and they’ll take care of it. Plus, you don’t need an appointment, don’t need to wait long and don’t need to get off your car for this.

Go in for periodic inspection

Yes, the car needs more than just an engine oil change. There is brake oil and transmission oil and coolant and air filter. Yes, that sounds a lot. But again, all you have to do is drive your car to Mr. Lube periodically. The expert technicians there will check and replace it for you when needed.

Rotate the tires regularly

Tire rotation is changing the position of your tires by one tire space. As a general rule, the front tires of your car will wear out sooner because of the engine in the front. So, to make sure that all your tires are equally worked, you should get them rotated every six months or every 10,000km whichever is earlier. And thankfully, the Mr. Lube location in Royal Vista has tire services!

Swap tires seasonally

Okay, this one is primarily for your safety. Getting winter tires before the slush sets in is the one thing you should never skip or push back. Fortunately, when these tires save you from accidents, they also save your car from a lot of damage. And as hard as it might be to believe, Mr. Lube will do this too without an appointment.

Don’t skip the winter wash

If you think this is our cleaning OCD talking, you’d be much mistaken. Sure we do love a car that is clean outside and inside (a good vacuum every month killed no one ever). But a regular car wash in winter is a necessity if you want to keep your car from rusting. The salt on the roads that is splashed on the bottom of your car can cause heavy rusting if not cleaned regularly.

Trust trained technicians only

You spend a heavy amount buying a car. And then more on maintaining it. So, it is kind of obvious that you will want to leave your car in expert hands. Which is why we only trust Mr. Lube when it comes to any auto service. In addition to the convenience, their trained technicians provide high-quality, warranty-approved oil change and maintenance services.
