Mount Robson Park is not only the second-oldest provincial park in British Columbia, but it’s home to the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, making it one of the most popular destinations in the province year-round. And the winter months are a great time to visit!

A UNESCO World Heritage Site

Known for its spectacular waterfalls, expansive meadows of wildflowers, and old-growth forests, Mount Robson doubles as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, according to BC Parks.

Among the most breathtaking and well-known natural attractions is the famed Berg Lake Trail, which fully reopens for the season in May 2025. However, winter visitors can still enjoy the breathtaking trail and access backcountry campsites, even when snow is on the ground.

Note that there is no fee collected for winter camping.

Another unique feature of the park is the rushing Toboggan Creek, which flows through a limestone canyon carved over thousands of years ago.

Mount Robson winter activities

BC Parks notes that there are opportunities for backcountry skiing and snowshoeing throughout the park, but there are no set tracks. So if you’re planning a backcountry journey through the snow, be sure to brush up on your avalanche safety knowledge before heading out. And stick to the marked hiking trails!
