Any travel plans this fall? For those travelling through Toronto and Vancouver to select U.S cities, you might be able to cut some major line-ups at customs thanks to this new app.
The Mobile Passport Control app allows travellers who meet the requirements, to submit their passport and travel information through the app making it available for “future international travel.”
According to the U.S Customs and Border Protection, after filling out the information, once you arrive in the U.S or eligible pre-clearance location, travelers will choose their airport or seaport and terminal, take a selfie, and answer a series of CBP inspection-related questions.

Travellers then get an electronic receipt with a QR code that they will have to show a CBP officer before they enter the U.S.
“As wait times continue to rise due to increased international travel, the app can be especially useful for families traveling together, as it allows for a single household to submit one MPC transaction, including answers to CBP inspection-related questions,” said the CBP.
“It also eliminates the need for a declaration form because travelers can answer the CBP inspection-related questions electronically via their smartphone or tablet prior to arriving at Customs.”
Though it was launched back in 2014, it is only now that travellers through Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport, and Montreal Trudeau International Airport can partake in the program.
The MPC app is currently available to use at 31 U.S. International Airports, three Canadian Preclearance locations, and four seaports of entry, which are:
