Looking for a fall adventure that you and your furry friend can enjoy? There’s a park in Ontario that’s not as popular as the rest, but a lovely destination for fall views. Mikisew Provincial Park is next on our autumn views radar.

Where is Mikisew Provincial Park?

It’s about a three-hour drive north of Toronto, home to a pet-friendly, leash-free parkland with plenty of space to enjoy all outdoor activities.

As of Oct. 14, 2025, the park has closed for the season, so that means certain facilities like washrooms, rentals, boat launches, and its laundromat will be closed. The main parking lot will stay open for day use throughout the off-season.

What can you do here?

You can still enjoy a peaceful hiking adventure and be one with nature. There are five interconnected loops that guide you through forests and wetlands: Old Dog Trail, a short 800 m trek; Lakeview Trail, 300 m; Maple Canyon Trail, 2.3 km; The Point Trail, 300 m; and Beaver Meadow Trail, 2 km.

Choose a hike that is up your alley or combine them all into a 5.4 km loop — the journey is yours to decide.

The views are absolutely stunning this time of year, so be sure to bring your camera!

Leash-free zone

The fun doesn’t end there! There’s also a pet exercise area where your four-legged friend can run wild. Considering its the off-season, be wary of potential closures. It is located in the day-use part of the park, so it should not be hard to find.

Now what are you waiting for? Plan your next fall trip with your pup this season.
