Once again, Travel and Leisure has shared their 50 Best Places to Travel in 2024 and one Canadian spot made their list!

Located in Smoky Lake, Alberta, Métis Crossing is a spectacular place where culture, fun and nature are all celebrated.
The first major Métis cultural interpretive destination in the province, this magical escape was created as a place for Métis people to share Métis stories and is described by the publication as “one of Canada’s most compelling Indigenous tourism projects.”
With 688 acres, a lodge with 40 rooms, a cultural centre and campgrounds Métis Crossing offers everything from bird watching and festivals, to canoeing and snowshoeing experiences, but that’s hardly it!
Recently, they added eight skywatching domes where guests can look up at the stars, listen to Indigenous stories and – if they’re lucky – see the Northern Lights.
For all these reasons and more, it should come as no surprise it was named as part of the Cultural Immersion category – which also included the following:
