Located in Smoky Lake, Alberta, Métis Crossing is a spectacular place where culture, fun and nature are all celebrated.

The first major Métis cultural interpretive destination in the province, this magical escape was created as a place for Métis people to share Métis stories and is described by the publication as “one of Canada’s most compelling Indigenous tourism projects.”

With 688 acres, a lodge with 40 rooms, a cultural centre and campgrounds Métis Crossing offers everything from bird watching and festivals, to canoeing and snowshoeing experiences, but that’s hardly it!

Recently, they added eight skywatching domes where guests can look up at the stars, listen to Indigenous stories and – if they’re lucky – see the Northern Lights.
