Ready to go back to school? How about going to a school you can actually sleep in? This historic elementary school in Portland, Oregon, allows you to do just that! Because it is September, let’s get back in class and check out the McMenamins Kennedy School.

Located about two hours from Seattle, the Kennedy School is one you won’t want to leave, according to the hotel.

“Here you can have a pint in a classroom, enjoy an aged whiskey in detention, enjoy a movie in the old auditorium…. The possibilities here are endless,” they state, adding “Just don’t run in the hallways, please. You might spill your beer.”

The school opened back in 1915, and was a fixture of the neighborhood at the time.

“McMenamins renovated the once-abandoned scholastic gem and turned it into Portland’s most unique hotel,” states the website. It now has 57 guestrooms with private baths and telephones, a restaurant, multiple small bars, a movie theater, soaking pool, gift shop and a brewery!

According to the hotel, the rooms in the main school building include original chalkboards and cloakrooms. How cool is that?

There is one section that is in The English Wing, and those rooms are not old classrooms, but they have literature-inspired themes.

There are several bars and restaurants, one of which is the Detention Bar, there’s also a multi-level bar that’s formerly the school’s boiler room, and the Kennedy Schools’ movie theatre bar.

Ready to go back to a classroom? Be sure to pack your bags!
