It’s not often that we get excited about a new location for an old fast-food fave – but recently, we were caught off guard by the golden arches. Put the keys down, because McDonald’s will be opening a unique walk-up location in Calgary and we got an exclusive look inside!
Described as the “perfect format” for a foot-friendly community, this unique location has 4,000 square feet of space and an outdoor pick-up window for those who want to grab a bite without having to head into the restaurant.
In addition, this new-to-Calgary concept, features a large lobby, a modern kitchen, and a dine-in area for those who would prefer to take their time (or want to get out of the cold this winter.)

“We’re super excited about this particular location,” Franchise owner Usman Jutt told Curiocity. “We’ve always found a way for us to connect differently with every community we’re operating in.”
“The District has really wide sidewalks encouraging pedestrian traffic with a proximity to the university and the other amenities that the University District offers. We wanted to make sure that we were complimenting the neighbourhood we were in and that’s why we put in the walk-up window – to be able to serve guests as they feel comfortable.”
As confirmed by their team, U District’s McDonald’s will finally open this Friday, December 2nd, so lace up your shoes and consider grabbing a quick bite if you’re walking by!
