In February, Seattle lost a true citywide favorite, Cafe Presse. While very sad, new life is being breathed into the space in a form of a tapas bar. In May, you’ll be able to welcome, MariPili, an authentic Galician style drinking, and dining spot.

MariPili is a new venture from Grayson Pilar Corrales, JuneBaby’s previous pastry chef. According to an interview with Capitol Hill Blog Seattle, She stepped away from the position during the Eduardo Jordan allegation turmoil. She then took an opportunity to do an “internship at a two Michelin star restaurant called Culler de Pau in Galicia.” It taught her about Galician cuisine and also about her grandmother’s heritage.

The new resto will have elements of the late Cafe Presse in its layout. But diners can expect to see a fresh paint job with white and blue as the primary colors, new flooring, and ceiling as well as an abundance of natural wood. Corrales’ goal was to make the space feel as much like Galicia as possible, with a modern twist.

When it comes to food items, diners can expect to see items like Spanish meatballs and a variety of croquettes. As the opening gets closer and closer we’ll bet even more items will be revealed. Until then you can check out MariPili’s Instagram to stay in the loop. Enjoy!
