It’s time to take advantage of this hot summer weather and spend our days sunbathing on one of Ontario’s stunning beaches. Though there are a few popular beaches worth enjoying, this one is located in an Ontario park and is considered one of the best in Lake Country. Here’s what to know about Mara Provincial Park.
Located about two hours away from Toronto is Mara Provincial Park. This family-friendly destination offers all the best outdoor activities from camping to birding, boating and swimming.
According to Destination Ontario, Mara is one of only three parks located on the shores of Lake Simcoe and sprawls across 45-hectares. And for being such a small park, the beach at Mara is a good one. Per Destination Ontario, it is actually one of the most popular and best beaches in Lake Country for its size, cleanliness, and facilities. So don’t just take our word for it.
“The clear, shallow shoreline in the designated swimming area means the water is warm and safe for younger kids to splash about in. The swimming zone is open from mid-June to early September.”
If you’re a fishing connoisseur, rent a boat locally or charter a fishing guide! Some of the popular catches include walleye, trout, bass, and perch.
As for hiking experiences, there is a short nature trail in the park where you could spot some local wildlife, too!
