MacGregor Point Provincial Park is home to the first designated forest therapy trail in Ontario Parks which opened in the summer of 2023!

Along the Tower Trail at McGregor Point, visitors can immerse in nature as they venture on a self-guided healing walk.

Along the trail, there are a series of mindfulness prompts that “promote you to explore a deeper connection within nature and within yourself”.

“In slowing down to awaken our senses, we bring our bodies into a deeper awareness of the forest — a place we evolved — and into our parasympathetic nervous system,” says Ontario Parks.

“Forest therapy uses a series of specially designed invitations along a trail to help bring us into the present moment.

The trail was created in collaboration with Ontario Parks and the Global Institute of Forest Therapy and Nature Connection (GIFT), an organization that “designs and designates forest therapy trails in parks and municipalities across Canada.”

Ontario Parks also notes that “research strongly supports” that forest therapy walks can help with the following:

  • Boost our immune system
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Improve heart rate variability
  • Stabilize moods
  • Reduce stress
  • Improve sleep

This is the perfect place to unwind this summer. If you’re planning on making the trip just note you’ll need a vehicle/day pass, starting at $12.25.
