8 delicious Lunar New Year dishes & menus to enjoy in Toronto

In honour of the Lunar New Year, a handful of Toronto restaurants are offering special dishes and menus for a limited time only.

From special tasting menus to one-of-a-kind and unique dishes, these Toronto restaurants have gone above and beyond to showcase authentic Asian flavours with a touch of their own creativity.

Hong Shing

Hong Shing has a special Lunar New Year Menu, perfect for two. It’s a six-course meal that features the following dishes: Lobster Dumplings, Prosperity Lo Hay Toss, Balsamic Sweet & Sour Pork, Garlic Beef Tenderloin, Wealthy Fried Rice
White Rabbit Cream Puff and Hong Shing Red Pockets and Ginger Scallion Seasoning. It’s priced at $208 and available for takeout only from January 19 to January 22 until quantities last

Avling Kitchen & Brewery

Enjoy a LNY feast on January 28 at Avling Kitchen & Brewery. It features a Dim Sum Platter, Yu Sang Lo Hey Prosperity Salad, Shanghai Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs, Braised Cornish Game Hen, warm Sweet Potato, Coconut & Sago Tong Shui with a slice of Seabuckthorn Berry Nian Gao. It’s priced at $88 per person. A vegetarian menu is available.

Fuwa Fuwa Pancakes

Starting January 23rd to February 6, Fuwa Fuwa Pancakes will have a special edition dish on its menu in honour of LNY. The new Orange Pancakes will feature orange cream, fresh orange and banana, orange syrup, and almond slices for $16.88 plus tax. It will be available at all seven Fuwa Fuwa locations across the GTA.

Lunar New Year at Holts Café

Delight your senses with a tasty spread of bites inspired by classic Chinese and Lunar New Year dishes, accompanied by unique afternoon tea flavours. The menu items are not only delicious but full of meaning. For example, the Crystal Shrimp Dumpling and Lobster & Prawn Toast represents prosperity, joy, and laughter in the new year.

This afternoon tea experience is available by reservation only, so be sure to call or email your preferred location to secure your table.

Patois

Available via DoorDash you can get a delicious LNY meal delivered right to your door. Patois has a Soft Shell Crab Long Life Noodle dish that’s composed of stir-fried ramen, garlic umami cream, spinach, tomato, and chili.

DaiLo

DaiLo has a mouthwatering list of dishes made special for Lunar New Year. Enjoy them a la carte or as part of its LNY tasting menu. It’s available starting this Sunday for a whole week.

Fatchoi

Fat Choi has a great LNY menu line up with eats including Peking Pancake, Nyonya Chili Wonton, Char Kueh Kak, Lo Hei, Longevity Noodle, Trio of Rice Desserts for $68 per person.

Bao Bird

Enjoy Bao Bird’s Lucky Rabbit Meal Deal! It features some restaurant favourites and speciality add-ons. It’s available now until January 29th at both locations, dine-in, takeout and delivery.
