A massive 40-foot dragon has taken over this Toronto mall for Lunar New Year

In celebration of Lunar New Year, this Toronto mall has been taken over by a massive 40-foot golden dragon for the month. Yorkdale Shopping Centre is going all in with Lunar New Year celebrations and here’s what to know.

Now until February 25th, mall guests are invited to check out the largest indoor dragon installation in the East Court near Canada Goose.

Snap a pic with the 40-foot display and enjoy complimentary Calligraphy for New Year blessings from February 5th to February 9th from 5 PM to 8 PM, while supplies last.

In addition to that, guests can walk through a passageway with golden archways and a runway floor decal decorated with florals and dragons, until February 23.

“Lunar New Year is one of the most significant gift giving events in many Asian cultures. We know from experience that our guests and store employees expect engaging experiences in addition to our unrivaled array of global brands that often release exclusive, limited edition Lunar New Year collections,” said Vianna Ko, Marketing Manager, Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

“Launching two expansive and immersive themed experiences means that everyone can embrace the Year of the Dragon at Yorkdale.”

Don’t miss out on the Lunar New Year activities at Holt Renfrew too, which include:

  • Chinese Printing: February 2, 3 & 9 from 2 PM to 6 PM
  • Sugar Painting: February 3, 9 & 17 from 2 PM to 6 PM
  • Calligraphy Blessings: February 9 & 10 from 2 PM to 6 PM
  • Chinese Traditional Quartet: February 3 & 10 from 2 PM to 4 PM
  • Dragon Dance: February 17 from 4 PM  to 6 PM

And while we’re at this, there are a ton of Lunar New Year activities happening in Toronto this month as well.

It’s never a dull moment in the city!
