Here are some of the wildest photos & videos from Calgary’s lightning storm last night

From one extreme to another, Alberta has a reputation for wonky weather patterns – but snow, rain and thunderstorms? They never get old! The truth is that we’ll never tire of bright lights and big booms – and last night, we saw something pretty incredible.

All over the city, jr. meteorologists and onlookers alike had a front-row seat to an electric display that reminded us, once again – Mother Nature is THE boss. If however, you missed it, here’s a quick visual recap of August 22nd’s wild storm in Calgary, courtesy of the folks on social media.

Like most storms, this one started off with a severe thunder warning issued to the Calgary area.

Then, once the clouds rolled in, settled and got darker –  things lit up like the fourth of July…. It made us want a hot dog real bad.

Luckily, though, no one was reported to have been hurt – and for that, we can be thankful.

Please continue to be safe and smart out there, YYC. A storm is no joke in Calgary and this certainly wasn’t the last of ’em.

Here’s to a wild summer of nutty weather and incredible photos of it! It won’t be long until we’re hit with another good one.
