Leavenworth is one of our fave spots in Washington, no matter what season we are in. And the Bavarian-styled village has recently been named one of the coziest places in the nation.

MyDatingAdviser looked at 170 of the coziest “Hygge Towns in America”, and Leavenworth made the top 20.

According to their list, “Hygge (pronounced hoo-guh) is a Danish term that encompasses the feeling of comfort, contentment, and well-being, often achieved through simple pleasures and a sense of coziness.”

They added that they “scoured the nation to discover the coziest Hygge towns in America, perfect for those seeking a refuge from the winter’s chill. Whether you’re an enthusiast of skiing, historical charm, or tranquil waterfront seclusion, you’ll find the ideal destination on this list.”

While Stockholm, Wisconsin, topped the list, Leavenworth came in 15th place.

“Nestled in the heart of Washington State, the charming town of Leavenworth has ingeniously woven Hygge into its very fabric. While not situated in Bavaria, Germany, Leavenworth embodies the spirit of cozy togetherness and contentment that the Danish concept of Hygge represents,” it says.

The town transformed itself into a picturesque, traditional German village in the 1960s, making the place “a magnet for travelers seeking warmth and comfort.”

But this is beyond just the winter season, While Leavenworth is known for being joyful during the holiday season, the report states that “in the summertime, Leavenworth continues to exude Hygge by offering outdoor enthusiasts a haven for great hiking, bouldering, and birding, creating a sense of well-being and contentment that is true to its Bavarian-inspired spirit.”

We certainly aren’t surprised!
