Vancouver is notorious for being a slower-paced, “sleepy” city – and while there’s nothing wrong with that, enjoying a late-night drink with friends in the summertime is a luxury that we all deserve. So with that said, here are a handful of late-night patios you can check out in Vancouver – for when you’d prefer to stay out an extra hour or two.
We’re starting off with the newest addition to Vancouver’s patio scene. Developed by a small team at Earls, Birdies Eats & Drinks is a California-inspired restaurant that just opened in Burnaby – in the spot formerly occupied by Earls Bridge Park.
In addition to lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, and happy hour – the restaurant has special late-night deals and a sprawling 1,785-square-foot patio to enjoy them on. Drop by between 9 pm to closing from Sunday to Thursday for their late-night happy hour, or from 10 pm to closing on weekends.
Where: 3850 Lougheed Highway, Burnaby
The Cambie is not only the oldest bar in Vancouver – it’s also a hotspot for drink deals and weekly events that should definitely be on your radar if you’re planning a group outing. Its happy hour lasts from 3 to 6 pm every day, plus from 9 pm to closing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
And their patio is one of the most relaxed around, offering visitors the chance to people-watch over a couple of brews under fairy lights. On Fridays and Saturdays, the Cambie is open from 11 am to 3 am – by far the latest on this list. On weeknights they’re open until 1 am, and until 2 am on Sundays.
Where: 300 Cambie Street
Another Vancouver staple, The Boxcar is a quintessential Main Street hang, complete with local brews, natural wines, a sprawling sunny patio, and a late-night happy hour from 11 pm to closing from Tuesday to Thursday.
The bar is open from 5 pm to 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays, and until midnight on Sundays and weeknights.
Where: 923 Main Street
The folks behind the Narrow (which incidentally also has a small patio out back…) are also widely known for Uncle Abe’s – a funky bar with a ton of character. In addition to great happy hour deals (including pickle backs for $4.50 and cocktails for $8), they also have weekly ‘yappy hours’ dedicated to our four-legged friends!
As for their extended patio, visitors can pop by and enjoy the casual, fun atmosphere from 4 pm to 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 1 am on Sundays and weeknights.
Where: 3032 Main Street

If you’re looking for a mix of tasty food deals and craft beer specials, then look no further than Brewhall. The giant brewery boasts tables of all sizes and a variety of brews, wines, snacks, pizzas, and more on special. Just hit up their happy hour from 9 pm to close on Sunday through Thursday and experience the vibes at night. You won’t regret it – especially on their large, comfy patio, which even includes fireplaces for the chillier nights!
Brewhall is open from 11:30 am to 1 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and until midnight on Sundays and weeknights.
Where: 97 East 2nd Avenue
A Kitsilano staple, the main draw of Darby’s is their rooftop patio. We think this is the spot to go when you have time for a pint in the middle of the afternoon because we hate waiting but love patios. Darby’s has the best beer selection on our Vancouver rooftop patio list – and who can resist the chill vibes of a Kits patio?
Darby’s is open until 1 am on weeknights, and until 2 am on weekends.
Where: 2001 MacDonald Street
Last but not least, we come to Social’s rooftop patio on Commercial. If you’re looking for a solid happy hour hang, there are plenty of brews on special and specialty cocktails to sip on from 2 to 5 pm, as well as delicious bites, bowls, and charcuterie.
Social is open until 1 am on weeknights and until 2 am on weekends.
Where: 1812 Commercial Drive
