Found about three and a half hours northwest of Toronto and about three hours northeast of Ottawa are the gorgeous sights of Lake St. Peter Provincial Park.

If you’re visiting the park, make a trip out of it. There are 65 campsites available, all sheltered by forest.

According to Ontario Parks, “There are several electrical sites and waterfront sites to choose from. All sites are close to drinking water taps and vault toilets. A centrally located comfort station has washrooms, showers, and laundry facilities.”

If you’re up for the challenge, there are a few trails to choose from but be warned that they’re marked as strenuous (the views will be worth it, though).

The Lookout Trail crosses “rugged terrain, passes close to a kettle lake and leads to a spectacular lookout over the lake.”

Past the Lookout Trail is the Cabin Trail, which continues about four kilometres and is named after an abandoned log cabin.

Cool off after your hike at one of the park’s beaches. Lake St. Peter has two sandy beaches to choose from, both of which are marked with buoy lines. Make note that the beaches do not have lifeguards on duty.

Day passes/vehicle passes start at $12.25 a day, or you can check camping availability here.
