How did the first weekend of August treat you? If you’re ready to continue on with the fun, this week is a great time to do just that! From outdoor movies, to the Olivia Rodrigo concerts, here are 10 of the best things to do in & around Seattle this week.
Multi-platinum, three-time Grammy award-winning artist Olivia Rodrigo is on her GUTS world tour in support of her second studio album, GUTS. This is her first arena tour, and she has two dates in Seattle. But note, the shows are currently sold out on Ticketmaster!

Seattle’s annual lantern-floating peace ceremony, From Hiroshima to Hope, will include music, poetry, speakers and candle-lit lanterns floating on the lake. It marks the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and honors the bombings’ victims and all victims of war and violence.

There are several promotions for the Seattle Mariners this month, including Value Games you can catch this week. Tickets for these games start at $10!

Center City Cinema will be screening FREE movies in the park at 12 locations across the city. This week you can watch ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ on Thursday at Ballard Commons Park, and ‘Reality Bites’ on Friday at Freeway Park.

Back for another year, Seattle Parks and Recreation is hosting Dancing ‘til Dusk for 17 evenings this summer. The lessons take place at parks across Seattle, and begins with a dance lesson for the first hour. No experience is needed but keep in mind the class rotates partners. If you’d prefer not to, you can bring a partner to the lesson. This week catch a lesson on Tuesday in Westlake Park, and Thursday in Cal Anderson Park.

SAM is hosting a ton of different free events this summer. Expect activities and performances that combine visual art, music, and community. There will also be evening concerts with food trucks and community partner activities.

Now in its 18th year, the South Lake Union Block Party is described as “the largest and longest running festival focused on celebrating and showcasing our neighborhood.”
This year, the party will take place on Friday, August 9th, and it all kicks off at 11 am. Festivities continue throughout the day, ending at 10 pm.

The Mural Amphitheatre lawn transforms into an outdoor theatre with a 40-foot screen and the iconic Space Needle in view this sunmer. The series takes place on Fridays and feature popular movies that include classic and contemporary films that are appropriate for all-ages.

The Seattle Theatre Group (STG) is bringing back the eclectic and intimate three-day, all-ages music festival that celebrates local to international musical acts with an emphasis on music discovery.
The lineup includes over 30 bands playing different stages, and features headliners St. Vincent, Black Pumas, and Toro Y Moi, with Spoon, Killer Mike, Stephen Sanchez, Ethel Cain, and Earl Sweatshirt.
