Ah, poutine, the one dish we can eat any time of year, no matter how we’re feeling, and yet it’s particularly perfect for the colder days. So, we were excited to find out that the nationwide La Poutine Week is set to return to Canada to kick off February. Here’s a quick refresher on how this goes down.

Each year, Canadian restaurants from coast to coast dream up the most outlandish, most decadent, and most tasty poutines they can think of. For the past decade, La Poutine Week has been both a regional competition for great poutine and a great excuse to support local restaurants. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that a portion of the proceeds goes to Quebec-based charities.

Last year saw dozens of restaurants in BC, Alberta, Ontario, and beyond throw their proverbial cheese curds into the bowl, creating everything from duck to braised beef short ribs to kimchi poutines. One thing’s for sure year after year- no matter which option you try, you’ll be walking away happy.

This leads us to the last bit of good news! To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, La Poutine Week has extended its runtime to two full weeks. Things kick off on February 1st and will be running until February 14th. A romantic poutine on Valentine’s Day? Now there’s an idea we can get behind.

Stay tuned for city-specific lists as this nationwide poutine festival arrives!
