THE TIME HAS COME! If you’re anything like me then you’ve been patiently waiting for the second King Taps location in Toronto to open.
Well, good news – it’s coming very soon. The new restaurant and bar is just steps west of the city’s liveliest intersection at King and Portland and it’s going to be amazing. Not only that, but they’re hiring!
Here’s what to know about the latest location.
The location is Toronto’s second, following in the footsteps of the first King Taps in the city which opened at 100 King St W in 2017.
The new spot is also on King Street, further west at 620 King Street W and will open to the public on October 1st, 2024.
300+ guests can fit in the open-concept interior and the vibes are immaculate.
“The space features a palette of rough-sawn wood, blackened steel, and natural leather, complemented with layered lighting, natural
greenery, and a mix of thoughtfully curated artwork and sculptures,” shares King Taps.
Enjoy the warm weather while it’s still here on the restaurant’s patio – a stunning streetscape perfect for sippin’ drinks and enjoying a meal.
Some of the art you can expect when stepping inside includes a massive mural done by former Team Canada Olympic snowboarder, musician
and artist Trouble Andrew, a large-format David Bowie piece by celebrity photographer Markus Klinko, a hip-hop-inspired print by Filipp Jenikae, and a beautiful sculpture called “Yume” (it means ‘dream’ in Japanese) by Local artist Daniel Mazzone.
Want to work for the hottest new spot in the city? The latest King Taps in Toronto is hiring front-of-house staff and back-of-house staff.
Hopefuls can apply here. Some of the available positions include Bartenders, Line/Prep Cook, Front Desk, Servers, Service Management and Bar Porter.
One thing about King Taps is that the happy hour is out of this world and the new location is no different in that way. Happy Hour is daily from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, while late-night Happy Hour runs from 11:00 PM to close from Sunday – Wednesday.
During these times all cocktails are $10, all pizzas and share plates are $5 off, bottles of wine are half off, signature beer is $5, and there are even happy hour wine pours for $6 (6oz) or $9 (9oz).
Don’t worry, the beloved King Taps pizza will be on the menu including the honey-drizzled Stinging Bee pizza!
“Hand-stretched, 48-hour aged dough is fired to crispy, chewy perfection in specialty ovens imported from Sweden,” says King Taps. Gluten-free crust is available, too.
Guests can also indulge in shareable plates and apps, fresh salads, handheld bites and mains such as “perfectly grilled steaks”.
Local, and regional spirits, wine and brews can be sipped on, as well as a curated selection of wines from around the world.
If you’re heading over with a group, be sure to try one of the large-format sangrias and mojitos. And of course, margs are on the roster from Cadillac to Spicy Jalapeño to Frozen.
Weekend brunch is happening on Saturdays & Sundays from 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM with brunch drink specials starting at $5.
Sundays are also for watching NFL football, and this King Taps will have exclusive league-partnered events throughout the season (including an epic Super Bowl party). Sports lovers – this is your spot.
We can’t wait to check it out! Online reservations are now available here for bookings starting October 1st onward.
