Escape the city on this 92-acre Ontario farm with Icelandic sheep

What’s better than escaping the city for a quick country retreat? How about a flock of cute and fluffy sheep awaiting your arrival?

A little slice of country heaven is waiting for you at Kimber Valley Farms, a sprawling property in the enchanting Beaver Valley that also serves as the home to shaggy Icelandic sheep!

With a full 92 acres of rolling fields, pasture, and forested areas, Kimber Valley’s flock of sheep, farm tours, workshops, and secluded off-grid cabins are calling your name — all at just 90 minutes from the city.

Say hello to the Kimberview Cabin and Creekside Loft, Kimber’s two off-grid cabins that are tucked away on the farm, offering panoramic views and scenic strolls, and your country retreat.

What’s in store? Both cabins have been designed to offer relaxing comfort with either a queen or queen left bed, porch chairs, picnic table, fire pits, standard utensils, and small appliances. An outhouse with a wash basin is always on the property.

One of the highlights of Kimber is meeting their affectionate sheep, especially the personable Hullabaloo, who is known to greet all guests! Icelandic sheep are believed to be one of the oldest and purest sheep, recognized for their unique horns and woolly coats that come in a variety of colours.

For your day activities, the farm welcomes guests to enjoy its specialized workshop and programs where you can learn more about the sheep and their wool, and even lessons on felting, spinning, and knitting.

The Beaver Valley is also a wonderful treat to explore in the summertime, and the farm is located minutes away from cideries, restaurants, and specialty shops like The Beaver Valley Orchard and Cidery or craft-winery, The Roost. Explore nearby Kimberly and Flesherton with trips to Heart’s Tavern and Bar for farm-to-table fares or The Flying Chestnut in Eugenia for scratch-made bistro bites.

For local wonders, be sure to check out the Old Baldy Conservation Area for hikes, Hoggs Falls Trail for waterfall scenes, and a cool paddle on the babbling Beaver River.

In the mood for a little city escape? The vibes at Kimber Valley Farms are just what you need.
