A magical holiday train ride will take you on a one-hour journey on this historic B.C. locomotive

If the holiday season is your favourite time of year, you’ll want to act soon, because tickets are now on sale for Kettle Valley Steam Railway’s magical Christmas Express, and spots always fill up quickly. The journey follows the only preserved section of the historic railway, which dates back to the early 20th century and takes passengers through 16 km of gorgeous Okanagan vistas.

During the summer months, you can enjoy an “Old-West” style ride with views of Okanagan Lake from the Trout Creek Bridge, which stands 238 feet above the canyon floor.

For the month of December, the ride transforms into a wonderland of holiday magic and cheer, complete with twinkling lights and more.

Between 1910 and 1915, the railway was part of the “Kootenay to Coast Connection,” pioneering the area’s thriving fruit industry. The fact that passengers can still ride a (restored) 1912 Steam Locomotive (the 3716) is pretty incredible, and makes for a memorable ride no matter when you visit.

So get ready to hop aboard a vintage coach and make some core holiday memories with your loved ones.

The magical one-hour ride will enchant passengers with bright lights, festive music, hot beverages, carolling, and even an appearance from Santa himself.

How much are tickets for the Christmas Express?

Tickets are available online for $35.50 per adult, $30 per senior, and $25 to $30 per child, depending on age.

Looking to enjoy a ride while there’s still fall foliage? There are three dates left for Kettle Valley’s Scenic Run this season, so don’t miss out.

Stay tuned for more info as it comes, and prepare for a holiday train ride to remember!
