The Train of Terror is rolling through Calgary and the next stop is fear

Prepare yourself to be scared silly! This Mossleigh, Alta., attraction has been an Alberta institution for five years and counting, and the haunted railcar isn’t disappearing anytime soon.

The Train of Terror is Canada’s only moving haunted house, with the entire thing taking place on an active railcar.

This 18+ experience is definitely not for the faint of heart. The train will be packed with horrifying creatures who are permitted to touch, grab, follow and even take you through any part of the train’s creepy mazes.

You can expect to be genuinely terrified on this haunted railway experience that has quickly become one of Alberta’s favourite Halloween pastimes.

What to expect

Your evening will begin when you check in at the train station. Your group will journey through three mazes that are all uniquely terrifying and thrilling in their own way.

You’ll be expected to make it through the maze, and if you’re one of the lucky ones to escape, you’ll be invited on board the moving Train of Terror.

You can grab a drink of your choice for some liquid courage before embarking on the final journey through the railcar, one that might be the most scary you’ll ever come across.

Intense fear

Visitors have described the Train of Terror as an intense experience that tests your limits of fear.

Decapitated heads, swinging corpses, and bloody body parts will cast shadows on the walls of the train, sparking your fight or flight response.

It’ll take everything you have not to run. Once you successfully journey through the haunted train cars, you’ll be rewarded with a round of applause from the train’s performers and conductor for surviving the harrowing experience.

Although this is a hands-on haunted experience where performers are permitted to touch participants, there is a safe word offered that you can utter if things get too intense.

There’s also a brief moment of reprieve offered once you board the train. Described as a festive and eclectic party bus atmosphere, you can sip themed drinks and laugh with other horror fans before subjecting yourself to more fear on board.

All aboard the Train of Terror! The next stop? Fear.
