Think you have what it takes to spend a night in a haunted prison? Well, at Ontario’s Jail Escape Hotel, you can find out how fearless you truly are.

Located in Cobourg, the Jail Escape Hotel isn’t just some spooky-themed hotel. It was actually a real prison back in the day!

The Old Cobourg Jail housed inmates from 1906 until its closure in 1998, according to its website.

Back then it was one of the biggest jails of its time, holding up to one hundred prisoners at once.

After the jail closed, it was converted into the charming King George Inn. But, legend has it that former inmates still haunt the grounds.

This historic inn pays tribute to its past with Victorian and Edwardian-themed rooms with the desirable amenities of a prison cell.

Those looking for an off-beat overnight getaway can book a jail cell-inspired room complete with iron bars and bunk beds.

You can take your experience up a notch by trying out the on-site escape room.

According to the website, this is Canada’s only escape game where you can stay and play in a real haunted jail.

Described as a “24-hour adventure in a real jail,” your experience includes a paranormal presentation, a live ghost hunt, and the escape game.

And if you get hungry, rest assured that the package also includes “your last meal.” How fun!

You’ll even get a jail souvenir to take home.

If you don’t want to spend the night, there are also day rates available. You can call the hotel directly for upcoming dates this fall.

So, choose your room and your sentence because it’s time for a spooky adventure unlike any other.
