International Women’s Day events to check out in Vancouver this year

International Women’s Day (March 8th) is upon us, Vancouver! It’s a great time to celebrate the amazing contributions women have made to our lives. But, it’s also a great chance to enjoy some great events taking place around the city. So, we’ve put together a few events you can check out this International Women’s Day & Week. Let’s dive right in.

Sex, Lies and Hormones: The Truth About Women’s Health (virtual)

While in-person tickets are sold out, those interested in attending ScienceUpFirst’s event featuring Dr. Jen Gunter (The Vagina Bible, The Menopause Manifesto) can join for free online.

Dr. Gunter will be joined by an esteemed panel of health experts, including Dr. Lori Brotto and Dr. Melissa Lem, moderated by Dr. Esther Odekunle. Together they will tackle a host of “hot-button issues” surrounding women’s health during a live keynote, panel, and audience Q&A.

Celebrating International Women’s Day in Downtown Vancouver 

From 4 to 6 pm on Thursday, March 9th, the Women’s Economic Council is hosting an informal networking event through the Think Women network project. Guests can connect with like-minded individuals and share their work, unique perspectives, and challenges that they face with a range of cooperatives and nonprofit organizations that focus on intersectionality and gender equity.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Human Experience Design: Places For Women+

Hosted by Women in Architecture, this event celebrates International Women’s Day with a workshop on ways to create designs that respond to the needs of women. The event will entail group work structured around understanding the problems that women face in different environments, taking place at Perkins + Will from 6 to 7:30 pm.

When: Wednesday, March 8th

Empowered and Beautiful: An International Women’s Day Celebration

Lux Boudoir Photography Studio is hosting a special pop-up event celebrating body positivity and self-love. At the event, guests can shop for unique products from local vendors, including self-care items, jewelry, lingerie, vegan chocolates, and more.

Guests can also book a session with their boudoir photographers.

When: Saturday, March 11th

Cost: Free

International Womens Day Group Fitness Class

Feel Good on Main Street is hosting a special workout class from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 7th to celebrate International Women’s Day. All donations and proceeds will go towards Avalon Recovery Society, Everywoman’s Health Centre, Pacific Immigrant Resources Society, and Women’s Shelters Canada.

Cost: By donation

Campari Boulevardier Party

Switching gears, Vancouver Cocktail Week is bringing a special event to The Chickadee Room on Tuesday, March 7th. From 3 to 7 pm, Juke will transform into a fancy venue for folks to bond over Boulevardier cocktails (whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Campari). A complimentary drink and snacks are included in each ticket purchase.

Note that all proceeds go towards Vancouver Eastside Women’s Centre.

When: Tuesday, March 7th

Cost: $18
