Here’s how buying a houseplant this month will support a Calgary charity

Happy International Women’s Day, Calgary! Today, in celebration of the incredible ladies who made us, raised us, taught, and befriended us, a popular mall in southeast Calgary will be launching a month-long campaign to support those within the YYC community fighting for equality. The best part? Getting involved is as easy as posting to the ‘Gram, or buying a houseplant!

Starting today, March 8th until the 31st, Calgarians will be able to explore, donate to and post about their #BreakTheBias art installation and are encouraged to purchase a tropical houseplant for charity.

“For 30 years, WINS has been helping local women in Calgary in the fight for equality, inclusion and acceptance of diversity,” said WINS Executive Director, Karen Ramchuk in a press release.

“We believe in nurturing women and their families, encouraging growth and giving them the tools to thrive. Supporting WINS at Southcentre Mall this month with a donation, you’ll receive a tropical plant to take home. Just like that plant, every woman and girl deserves the right to grow strong and be proud.”

Featuring three double-sided backdrops that represent everything that WINS Stands for, this earthy display and plant kiosk can be found next to the Sporting Life until the end of this month.

Plants will be available to those willing to donate at least $5 – and are colourful, cute, and fresh.

Interested? Shop until you drop, Calgary. There’s nothing like a good cause to get you out of the house!
