It’s going to be a summer of thrills at IMAX Cinesphere! The world’s first permanent IMAX theatre at Ontario Place is screening some exciting new films in the coming weeks that’ll make you feel completely immersed in the action.

Starting this week, you can catch screenings of Top Gun: Maverick  – The IMAX Experience.

This iconic sequel was actually filmed with Sony Venice IMAX-certified cameras and was made to be experienced in IMAX theaters.

Many of the pivotal scenes have an expanded aspect ratio, to fill as much of the screen as possible, as intended by the director, making for a “truly spectacular and immersive experience,” says the description.

“This allows moviegoers to experience more of the images with unprecedented crispness and clarity, combined with next generation IMAX precision sound.”

And that’s just the beginning of what’s to come! In August, IMAX Cinesphere will host a special weekend of screenings in honour of the upcoming NASA Artemis moon mission.

From August 12 to 14, the Cinesphere will be screening the critically-acclaimed film, Apollo 11: The IMAX Experience.

The screening event is called Full Moon Weekend and will also feature post-show interactive discussions and photo opportunities with the film’s creative and production teams alongside representatives from NASA who are working on the Artemis program.

There will be 10 total screenings of Top Gun: Maverick and just three screenings of Apollo 11 during Full Moon Weekend.

If you don’t want to miss out, you can reserve your seats in advance. Enjoy the show!
