From candle-lit concerts to beautiful ballet, here are some of the finest festive shows happening in our city this December.

Mariah Carey — Merry Christmas To All!

Drop everything! The queen of high notes is coming to Canada for a very special Christmas concert this week. Mariah Carey will be performing her holiday classics in Toronto as part of a two-day Christmas run.

Get ready to belt “All I Want For Christmas” and sing at the top of your lungs at the Scotiabank Arena on December 9th and 11th!

Christmas at the Movies

See your favourite holiday films come to life with this special show accompanied by vocals of the Amadeus Choir of Toronto.

“From the screen to the stage: a holiday celebration of some of the movies and music that have come to mean Christmas,” the description says. That includes the Academy Award-winning soundtrack for Home Alone!

TSO Holiday Pops

This is one of the best holiday concerts in Toronto! Described as a “symphonic stocking stuffed with seasonal splendour,” this live show by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra is accompanied by vocals from Broadway stars Nikki Renée Daniels and Paul Alexander Nolan.

You can look forward to a merry evening filled with holiday hits and classic carols — rumour has it that Santa himself will even stop by!

Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s Festival of Carols

Toronto’s annual Festival of Carols is returning for the holiday season, hosted by the incredible Toronto Mendelssohn Choir.

This year, the festival is bringing back its much-anticipated sing-along portion, so prepare to join the choir in song as the beautiful live instruments play classic holiday songs.

When: December 6th and 7th, 2022
Where: Yorkminster Park Baptist Church

Merry Merry Music

This festive concert series takes place throughout the holiday season at the Eaton Centre, with magical “indoor snowfall” that’s unlike anything else in the city.

From Thursday to Sunday, visitors will be treated to “musical performances from a diverse line-up of Canadian artists,” the description says.

The concert series will run four times weekly until December 24th, so you’ll have many chances to enjoy the show while you shop.

The Nutcracker Ballet

The National Ballet of Canada has one of the finest versions of Marius Petipa’s beloved classic The Nutcracker, and it is a holiday season tradition that our city looks forward to every year.

There’s no better way to make the holiday season feel complete in Toronto than this enchanting show.

Elf in Concert

You can experience the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in concert as John Debney conducts his wonderful score of the beloved Christmas classic Elf as it plays on the big screen.

This special presentation of the iconic holiday film we know and love will have you screaming “SANTA!” out loud.

Candlelight: Holiday Special

Experience the magic of the holiday season with a breathtaking 65-minute string quartet performance bathed in candle light.

This event brings “the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to awe-inspiring locations like never seen before in Toronto.” It’s bound to be spectacular.

Good Lovelies Christmas Concert

This famous Canadian trio is taking its annual Christmas show across Ontario, and will put on a lively show in Toronto this holiday season.

They’ll be performing their holiday songs, timeless winter selections, and original material at newly renovated Massey Hall, which they’ll perform with a talented Canadian six-piece band.

When: December 14th, 2022

A Charlie Brown Christmas Live

If you’d prefer a more casual holiday concert vibe, you can watch some of Toronto’s finest up-and-coming musicians play the nostalgic tunes from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

The performers are a talented band of award and scholarship-winning music school graduates from York University and Humber College. Grab a cocktail and sit back while the music transports you back to simpler times.
