If you love finding underrated spots to try, or ones that are tucked away from the city’s busiest streets that offer a more secluded vibe, this list is for you. Vancouver turns into a patio heaven in the summertime, which makes now the ideal time to check out some new ones. So while we wait for Chupito to be up and running again, here are 10 sunny hidden patios to discover in Vancouver this summer.

La Fabrique St-George

Doubling as one of the only wineries in the city, La Fabrique is one of our fave go-to spots for a glass of satisfying vino no matter the season. In the summer, the cozy patio makes the perfect spot to unwind with a tasting flight in hand, tucked away in the neighbourhood streets of Mount Pleasant.

Mercato di Luigi is a one-stop shop for groceries, fresh pasta, pastries, and dessert. And as far as “hidden” goes, its patio is the perfect spot to relax with some refreshments on a hot summer day, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The Stable House Bistro

This neighbourhood bistro and wine bar is by far one of our favourite spots on the list – and its patio is a huge reason for that. Situated in South Granville on West 13th, the cozy wine bar features a couple of outdoor tables under twinkling fairy lights, as well as a larger patio space courtesy of the adjacent South Granville Plaza West. Pop in for a glass or two and some fresh, inventive bites.

Dachi

The menu at Dachi changes day-to-day, which makes for a thoroughly exciting and rewarding dining experience every time you go. All of their ingredients are sourced from independent, local farmers – which means every dish is a unique creation. Come for the wine and sake, and stay for the relaxed, colourful patio.

R&B Ale & Pizza House

Knock back a couple of lagers or sours under chilli pepper lights at one of Mount Pleasant’s most iconic breweries. Whether you’re going out on a Friday night or meeting friends after work, the vibes are laid back, retro, and incredible for patio hopping. Speaking of, there’s also Electric Bicycle right next door if you want to make a night of it.

To sweeten the pot during the week, they have Industry Nights every Monday with local DJs spinning and pints for $6.50.

The Birds and the Beets

This spot is just as good for a light snack as it is for coffee, and we love the fact that we can buy flowers to brighten our (or a loved one’s) day. The brioche is delicious, as is the avocado and poached egg sandwich, and their vibrant, relaxed patio is by far one of the best in the city.

Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions

If you still haven’t checked out Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions, consider this your sign. With unique, flowing cocktails, retro decor, laid-back vibes, and mouthwatering charcoal-grilled BBQ the 70s-inspired bar & grill never disappoints. And the spot has two patios to choose from – though we’re partial to the vibrant back patio that has two giant murals on either side of relaxed, multi-functional seating options.

Vij’s

We’re considering this one “hidden” only because it’s up on the roof. If you love Indian food, it doesn’t get much better than Vij’s on Cambie, and the rooftop patio is perfect for catching some sun through their glass ceiling.

Where: 3106 Cambie Street

Milano Coffee Roasters

This one’s more of a balcony than a traditional patio, but it’s perfect for sitting outside with some coffee and pastries as you soak up some sun. Plus, it overlooks Jonathon Rogers Park – so it’s got a great view to go with it.

The Narrow Lounge

Last but certainly not least, we come to The Narrow Lounge – AKA one of Vancouver’s best speakeasies. You may be most familiar with their dark, candle-lit indoor bar seating – but just outside in the back, there’s a cozy Tiki-themed patio perfect for a couple of friends catching up! Come for the happy hour deals and stay for the vibes.

Where: 1898 Main Street

And there you have it, Vancouver. If you’re looking for a new hidden gem to check out, you know where to look!
