Did you see our roundup of the most expensive orders, and think to yourself, “Hmm, I wonder what BC was feeling on SkipTheDishes this year?” If you did, then you’re in luck, because we’ve got some very fun facts in store that even surprised us.

If we were going to describe the ordering habits of BC in one word, we’d pick ‘frugal’. First off- our top 3 menu items ordered in 2021 were miso soup, garlic naan, and California rolls. We won’t lie though, those are exactly what we hoped for, because all three are delicious (and cheap!).

Even more surprising though, is that we actually ordered fewer sushi rolls than other major provinces. Ontario’s roll count? Just over a million. Alberta? 646,931. But right here in BC? The mecca of sushi spots? 567,558. We guess one bonus of having good sushi on every corner is that delivery is more like a convenience than a must.

And, the final fact that caught our eye was even though we ordered less on average, Vancouver was still the city that had the most single-day orders in all of Canada. That happened on, you guessed it, New Year’s Day, when leaving the house is usually a last-ditch resort.

So yeah, BC was kind of hard to sum up this year! We like it, keep ’em guessing.
