Here’s how to partake in Small Business Saturday in Seattle

Black Friday is perhaps one of the largest displays of American and global consumerism. It’s a chance to go crazy with sales and rack up a whole bunch of purchases for yourself or for others. While we get that it’s a day to score great deals, it’s a day usually reserved for big box stores. The holidays are coming up and it’s time to shop, so instead consider supporting local and partaking in Seattle’s Small Business Saturday.

Technically this day was created by American Express in an attempt to get folks to support mom & pop businesses. You can find their map of businesses participating this year by clicking here. But it’s also worth noting that Seattle and Washington as a whole have thousands of small businesses that aren’t listed.

Holiday markets are a great place to find local vendors and creators from across the PNW. There are tons of markets happening now until the end of December. Of course, we created a whole list of markets for you to check out (linked above) so that you don’t have to do all that extra research. Eat at a local restaurant

Seattle is a foodie city so we get that it can be hard to pick just where to eat. Whether you want Italian, pho, dim sum, sushi, an NYT-approved resto or something new, we have you covered with a whole host of lists.

Get your gift shopping on

The holiday season is here and that means you’re probably looking for gifts! You can use tools like Intentionalist to find businesses owned by specific communities. Or shop from unique local businesses like Big Little News or Drink Books. Just think about all those cool little gift shops in your neighborhood that you’ve never checked out. Now is the time!
