It’s been a little while since we’ve heard of a new book shop opening in Seattle. Drink Books is set to be one of our city’s most unique book shops as it’s a place for natural wine lovers and book worms alike to come together under one roof. Best of all, it’s set to open very soon, so let’s check it out.

Drink Books started as a pop-up between Kim Kent, the founder of Book Cru (a book-and-wine club that pairs novels with the perfect bottle), and Emily Schikora, the owner of Editor Consignment. The duo decided to bring their combined passion for natural wines and books into a pop-up format to share with like-minded Seattleites. And now they’re making the big jump to a brick and mortar space.

If the concept of a wine and book shop isn’t already unique, Drink Books will predominantly sell books written by women, transgender, and non-binary authors. The books selected to be sold and paired with wines will lean towards works in translation, and books from smaller presses. Expect the strange, unconventional, and linguistically driven.

For now, Drink Books doesn’t have a set opening date and from a recent post on their Instagram, it appears as if they’re awaiting a liquor license. That being said The Stranger mentioned an opening date of November 5th. Either way, it looks like Seattle’s newest book shop will be here before you know it and just in time for the gift-giving season. If you’d like to learn more you can click below.
