We live in the Emerald City but with the growth and construction Seattle has seen, it’s slowly getting less green. Trees for Seattle is working to change that through its commitment to keeping Seattle’s urban forests healthy, vital, and growing. As part of that commitment, they’re handing out 1,000 free trees this fall and you can snag one of your own!

Trees for Seattle is doing more than just giving away trees. Along with your tree(s), you’ll receive free watering bags, mulch, and training to plant and care for the tree all at no cost. You’ll receive up to 4 trees from 11 different types of species that were hand-selected by arborists to fit a variety of yards or locations.

As this program was put together earlier in the pandemic, the trees will be delivered to you in October or November. So if you have the space and time there’s really no harm in applying. After all, it’s a beautiful new tree for your yard and it helps keep the city green and the air clean. But applications for the program close soon so be sure to get on it.

You have until August 9th to apply. Like other county and state programs, the application system is a lottery system. So we wish you the best of luck and you can apply by clicking here. Keep in mind that if you win a spot, you will have to take a short online Tree Planting and Care webinar. If you’d like to know more about the program overall you can click here.
