A brand new live entertainment venue is hitting Toronto this year, thanks to a collaboration between Live Nation and 6ix icon Drake. Live Nation made the official announcement this morning, saying the the venue, called History, is set to open in the city later this summer.

“History will offer guests up-close experiences with their favourite artists that are unrivalled in Toronto,” Live Nation Canada Chairman Riley O’Connor says in the press release. “We take pride in and expect History to become an important part of the community.”

We expect that too! History will be located in Toronto’s east end, right in the heart of The Beaches neighbourhood. It’s been under construction for the past three years, and once it’s open it’ll have the capacity to host 2,500 guests at a time. The spot plans to hold 200 events annually, including concerts, live entertainment, galas, and more. It will offer a versatile mix of general admission and reserved seating.

“Some of my most memorable shows were playing smaller rooms like History,” Drake says in the press release. “I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans.”

Now, we’re just speculating, but we like to dream that Drake will surprise the city with a pop-up concert at the venue to celebrate it’s opening… Drake if you’re reading this, take the hint!!

Either way, History is sure to become a staple in Toronto. For more information, you can head on over to historytoronto.com and LiveNation.com.
