Here are the 4 BC chefs competing in the new season of Top Chef Canada

We love a little bit of reality TV, especially when it’s about food. So that’s why we’re excited that Top Chef Canada is back for a ninth season. And it’s worth mentioning that there are 4 chefs from BC out of the 11 contestants.

Now when you think about it, that kinda makes sense. After all, BC has a booming culinary scene and dare we say, some of the best restaurants in the country. And for as diverse a city we live in, we’re happy to see an equally representational lineup of chefs.

To start off we have Galasa Aden who is actually from Calgary but currently lives in Invermere, BC. He’s an up-and-coming chef and has the distinction of being named one of Canada’s Top Young Chefs To Watch by The Globe and Mail. Next up we have Andrea Alridge, the Chef de Cuisine at Vancouver’s CinCin Ristorante + Bar. And to kick things up a notch, she brings her Jamaican and Filipino background to her cooking.

Then we have Siobhan Detkavich from Kelowna, BC who also happens to be one of the youngest chefs to ever compete on Top Chef Canada. At just 21, she’s one of the countries youngest Red Seal certified chefs. And last but not least we have Kym Nguyen,  the Sous Chef at Vancouver’s French-Asian fusion restaurant PiDGin. And they’ll be showcasing their British-Asian cooking style in the competition.

See? We told you that the Top Chef Canada lineup was good. We can’t wait to see what our local contestants cook up. And we have a solid feeling that one of them might just win. If you’d like to learn more you can click here.
