Here are all the new restrictions coming to BC today

Last week, the BC government announced that in light of rising COVID cases, new restrictions would be coming to the province. And, wouldn’t you know it, they go into effect today! If you didn’t catch the official announcement, don’t worry, because we’ve got the details.

Probably most importantly, all indoor, personal gatherings are now limited to the host household and either 10 guests or another household, if all members of the household are over 12. Either way, all those in attendance must be fully vaccinated.

Changes are also coming to organized events ahead of the holidays/New Year’s Eve. Any organized event will now require the BC Vaccine Card, no matter the size. Meanwhile, all New Year’s specific events will now be seated only, with no mingling or dancing allowed. Restaurants and bars will also be seeing restrictions, as guests must remain seated (aka no mingling allowed).

All sports tournaments have now been cancelled. And, on a similar note, large events (including hockey games) with over 1,000 capacity will now be restricted to 50% of the seated capacity. All of these new restrictions are set to expire on January 31st, 2022, but could be changed before then.

Otherwise, we’ll keep you posted if anything new happens!
