If there’s one silver lining to the year 2020, it’s drive-thru light displays. These gorgeous, twinkling, socially-distanced creations are just what we need to lift our spirits this season. Thankfully, they’re coming out in full force for the holidays. All over the GTA, you can find amazing drive-thrus that are fun for the whole family. From Scarborough to Vaughan, to Mississauga, no matter where you are in the city there’s one nearby to enjoy.
Here are all the beautiful drive-thru light displays you can check out in the GTA.
BLUFFS WINTER WONDERLAND
Those of you in Scarborough can hurry over to the Bluffs this season to experience the fabulous Bluffs Winter Wonderland. This light display stretches 1 km through loads of different themed areas. Their sections include areas like the Reindeer Way, Snowman Alley, and the Enchanted Forest. Plus, it finishes off with a visit to Santa’s Workshop! This one’s fun for the whole family.

CANADIAN TIRE CHRISTMAS TRAIL
Home improvement isn’t all Canadian Tire is good for! This year, they’re putting on a fabulous drive-thru light display in North York. Stop by and explore a 1.5 km multi-sensory experience with lights, music, snacks, and more. They’ve even figured out a way to help your little ones get a socially distant photo with Mr. Claus! Is there anything they didn’t think of??

JOURNEY INTO ENCHANTMENT
Of course, Markham is also getting in on the fun with a 1.5 km trail you won’t wanna miss. This fabulous display has over 1 million lights in it, making it a clear winner for the most twinkly. Plus, they’ve got killer animated, music shows, and more. The spot is also raising money for SickKids this holiday season, so there’s really no going wrong with a visit here.

HOLIDAY NIGHT OF LIGHTS
Fans of Halloween Night of Lights will love it’s winter festive counterpart. A nearby lot has been transformed into the ultimate drive-thru for Xmas lovers. It spans 2.25 kilometres, has synchronized music, and loads of nifty animations. We recommend stopping by with a peppermint hot chocolate in hand (or in-car cup holder).

POLAR DRIVE-THRU EXPERIENCE
Just when we thought we’d seen it all, the Polar Drive-Thru in Mississauga has to go and one-up everyone. This festive light display spans not one, not two, but six fabulous levels. Each one has a different theme, from winter wonderland to crystal cave, to glitz glam and golden. Plus, the event is planting loads of trees to offset their carbon footprint.

WINTER FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
Okay, this one’s a little bonus pick. It’s not exactly in the GTA, but if COVID-19 restrictions ever loosen up and you pay a visit to Niagara Falls, you’ll definitely want to check it out. Every year, Niagara does the absolute most at their Winter Festival of Lights. There are incredible sculptures, light fixtures as far as you can see, and even the falls are lit up in festive colours! It’s certainly a sight for sore eyes, so we hope folks are able to get out there this season.
