One of Alberta’s biggest outdoor water parks reopens for the season next month

If you’re already dreaming about those really hot summer days where all you want to do is be in or near water, you’re definitely not alone. Thankfully, those days are almost here. Henderson Pool in Lethbridge will open this June, bringing back one of Alberta’s most popular spots to cool off once the heat arrives.

Located inside Henderson Lake Park, this seasonal pool is more than just a place to swim. With waterslides, a diving board, a climbing wall, and plenty of space to relax, it’s the kind of place that makes it easy to lose track of time in the best way.

The thrilling outdoor experience is set to open its doors on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

Swim, slide, repeat

Once it opens, Henderson Pool becomes the place to be on a hot day in Lethbridge. I’ve actually been here myself once, and it’s easy to see why it gets so busy. It’s such a huge space with so much to do that it never feels super crowded in just one area.

The shallow entry area makes it easy for younger kids to wade in comfortably, while the deeper end and diving board add a bit more excitement for older swimmers. And on top of that, you have the waterslides, the climbing wall, and the spray park that make the space feel like a full water playground rather than just your average pool.

And if all of that wasn’t enough reason to be excited about swimming season, organizers say the pool is hosting a summer kickoff event on opening day, inviting visitors out for the very first splash of the season.

What to know before you go

If you’re planning to check out Henderson Pool this season, there are a few things worth keeping in mind before you head over.

When warmer weather starts to roll in, the pool fills up with people pretty quickly, so if you’re not the biggest fan of crowds, going earlier in the day is usually your best bet.

It is also located right beside Henderson Lake Park, so you can easily turn your swim trip into a full-day adventure. You can bring a picnic, go for a walk around the lake, or hang out on the grass before or after your swim.

As with any outdoor adventure, it’s always a good idea to bring the basics: sunscreen, water, snacks, and anything else you might need for a few hours in the sun.

So if you are already counting down the days until pool weather, this is your friendly reminder that it’s not that far away anymore. Henderson Pool is one of those spots that makes it feel like summer days are actually within reach, and we’re here for it!
