According to Ontario Parks, “Hawk Ridge extends off the northern portion of Echo Pond Trail and travels deep into the heart of the interior.”

The hike is 15 km in length and will take anywhere from six to eight hours to complete so be sure to come prepared with sunscreen, water, snacks and proper footwear.

The trail will bring you along several lakes including tiny Lost Lake with multiple low cliffs that provide “great vantage points.”

One of the highlights of the trail is the lookout over Three Island Lake, with Ontario Parks describing the lookout as being worth the trip just on its own.

Two shorter trails form loops within the Hawk Ridge network: Moose Ridge which is a short trail with a lookout over the campground and Halfway Lake itself and Echo Pond which is a long trail that “crosses bedrock, passes through Jack Pine forest, and loops around scenic little lakes.”

If you don’t want to attempt to complete this trial in one day, Hawk Ridge Trail does have backcountry campsites available to book.

Those who are feeling ambitious can just opt for a day pass, which starts at $12.25.

The views are worth the journey!
