Since we’ve got Friday the 13th this week, we thought it’d be fun to talk about a creepy new show coming to Netflix next month. Midnight Mass is the latest limited series from Mike Flanagan, who some of you might recognize from The Haunting of Hill House. If not, we’ve got all the info you need!
First announced in 2019, Midnight Mass was originally scheduled to begin production in BC in the spring of 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic threw a wrench in the plans, and the ball didn’t get rolling until August last year. The series was filmed both in a Burnaby studio and on a specially-created set at Garry Point Park down in Richmond.

While few details about the show have been released, there are a couple of things to touch on. The series will be set on an ‘isolated island’ that experiences supernatural phenomena. With the arrival of a new priest in the town, the situation becomes more astounding and a new religious fervour takes over.
The series is not part of The Haunted universe, but does feature some of the hallmarks that made Flanagan’s shows so great. You can expect a mix of rich characters, surreal scenes, and that same sense of uneasiness that made his last few projects must-watches for any horror fans.
Midnight Mass will be released on Netflix Canada on September 24th. Make sure to mark it down in your calendars, folks!
