With Halloween just around the corner, we thought we’d go ahead and share some of the spookiest, most exciting parties & October events we’ve found around the city. And since the 31st falls on a Monday this year, you better believe we’ll be celebrating all weekend long. Let’s dive right in: Here are 12 of the best Halloween parties and events to check out around Vancouver this year.

Pirates of Gastown

As the name suggests, Pirates of Gastown is taking the spooky festivities to the seas at The Portside Pub. Tickets are $15 a pop before 11 pm entry, and guests can expect to dance it out until 3 am, with the costume contest winner announced at midnight. Oh, and there’s a special Halloween drag show on Monday, October 31st as well!

Room Service Halloween 

After two years of minimal party-hosting, The American is teaming up with HIDE + SEEK events to present Room Service Halloween, a more chill alternative to the chaos on Granville Street. With food from Downlow Burgers, drinks, games, and beats from J. Digs and Eric Manese, this is definitely looking like a one-stop-shop when it comes to Halloween destinations. Guests can expect to dance to everything from Afro Beats to Baile Funk.

When: Saturday, October 29th

Cost: $10 for early bird, $15 GA

Halloween cocktails at Odd Society

The Odd Society Spirits gang is serving up some seriously spooky sleeves from Thursday, October 27th to Sunday, October 30th – including a Halloween edition of their monthly Odd Thursday music night. Head to East Van for some wicked cocktails like the Black Heart Manhattan Slushie and a share-if-you-date Nightmare Punch made with candy corn-infused vodka.

On Thursday, October 27th, bar manager Mia Glanz will transform the bar, with DJs Chachou and Elio Agvaz spinning in the lounge.

The Pearl Fishers

Switching gears before we get into the heavy party content, the Vancouver Opera is opening its 2022/2023 season with a full-scale production of Georges Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers on October 22nd, 27th, and 30th. Directed by Vancouver favourite Rachel Peake, this dramatic opera tells the tale of two devoted friends and the woman that comes between them. The famous “friendship duet” is one of the most beautiful and recognizable pieces in the opera world.

Costume Party at Cabana

This is the ultimate student-friendly Halloween party, with a 50% discount code available for wave 4 tickets, GA, and VIP admission. Plus, this is the official Halloween party for UBC, SFU, CapU, and LC – so you know you’ll be in great company. Gear up for some exciting drink specials, contest prizes, and more.

Black Lagoon Halloween pop-up

There are several dates left of “Canada’s best pop-up bar,” Black Lagoon – AKA, the best of goth culture and cult horror in a bar concept. The iconic pop-up will bring a variety of spooky cocktails to Butcher & Bullock, including the Screaming Banshee, Hexes for your Exes and Close Casket. Tickets are currently unavailable, but you can go ahead and book a table for the pop-up dates on Butcher & Bullock’s website.

Enso x Vanstu Halloween party

Advertised as the “biggest and scariest” Halloween party in Vancouver, this event will certainly be one for the books, with over 1,500 people slated to attend, prizes for the best costumes, and club anthems playing all night long.

Vancouver’s Haunted Halloween Yacht party 

Who doesn’t love a yacht party to cap off the warm weather & set sail for a spooky destination? The #1 yacht party organizers in the city are back with a haunted-themed yacht party cruising through False Creek, English Bay, and into the inner harbour. Expect a great lineup of performing artists and DJs, spooky snacks, views on views, and of course – libations fit for the season.
