The Walrus and the Carpenter
In addition to being one of the best seafood spots in Seattle, these guys definitely have the best name. Head down there to talk about shoes and ships and sealing wax as you enjoy a dozen or so oysters.

This Fremont mainstay is a perfect blend between fishing lodge and industrial space. Based on that alone we’re impressed. But, then they went and created a fantastic menu using everything from monkfish to grouper.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 4PM-11PM and Saturday/Sunday, 9AM-11PM

Matt’s in the Market
One of two places in Pike Place Market that have become institutions in the city. The constantly evolving menu uses the freshest seafood from the market below. As a result, it’s also one of the busiest spots in Seattle.
Hours: Monday to Saturday, 11:30AM-2:30PM and 5:30PM-11PM
Where: Pike Place Market
An adorable spot in Capitol Hill that focuses on French cuisine. Melusine is actually the Walrus’ cousin, which is as good a stamp of approval as anything. We recommend trying anything with clams in it.
Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 5PM-10PM and Sunday/Monday, 5PM-9PM, Brunch Saturday/Sunday, 10AM-2PM
Where: 1060 E Union Street
This surprisingly affordable spot in Fremont comes from the minds of four former employees of Sea Creatures (Melusine, Walrus, and a handful of other incredible restaurants). Actually, the name is a dead giveaway- Manolin refers to the young apprentice from Hemingway’s ‘The Old Man and the Sea’.
Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 4PM-10PM and Sunday, 4PM-9PM, Closed Monday

Taylor Shellfish Farms Oyster Bar
With three spots in Seattle, Taylor Shellfish is another must-visit in the city. These guys have been farming oysters and other seafood since the 1890s. If you survive over a century doing the same thing, you deserve success, it’s that simple.

Pike Place Chowder
This place is going to be insanely busy, and for good reason. The 3-time winner of the Great Chowder Cook-Off in New England is actually in the competition’s ‘Hall of Fame’. So, we can safely say you’re going to have one of, if not the best, chowders in the country.

Where: One in the market and one in Pacific Place
Duke’s is the perfect destination for those who want to feel good about enjoying classic seafood dishes. These guys are neck and neck with Pike Place for best chowder in the area, and they’ve got a menu that is 100% sustainably sourced.
